Spam from this domain
Apologies if you are receiving spam claiming to come from this domain, but I can categorically assure you that it does NOT originate from me, the people I work for, the company Spirit and I run (Outer Reaches Studios) or anywhere/anything else I have anything to do with.
I have in the last few hours received over 1000 bouncers from mail servers all over the place.
Hi, most likely your domain is being spoofed. I had the very same thing happen to one of my domains and it’s very annoying to say the least. At present not much that can be done to prevent it. There are some steps you can take to minimize it however. Email me if you wish to know the things we’ve done to deal with this problem.
Hi Jarrod, I think a large portion of it is down to my own naivety early on. Used my real email address in one or two too many places.
But, we live and learn. These days, I’m a lot more cautious.
Ah yes. I know what you mean. One thing that has really help us is a hardware/software spam firewall. It has eliminated around 98% of all the spam. At one point on another domain, we where getting around 300 spam emails per hour. No kidding. It was such a pain and consumed way to much time and energy. We’re currently using The Barracuda Spam Firewall. I highly recommend it. Now it is business as usual.
Nice if you (or your business) can afford it… unfortunately, we’ve got a long way to go before we can splash out on funky appliances
Oh, we are only renting the service. Our hosting company offers it as a monthly rental which also is included in our hosting package.
Really it is a shame that we even have to spend money, time and energy dealing with stuff like this. *sigh* but this is the world in which we live in. 15-20 years ago, spam? computer virus? what are those?
