A bit quiet
Apologies if you’re a reader who checks back periodically… theres been hardly any action for quite a while, but this time, I do have a good reason.
Over the last 6 months or so, I’ve been staying with my Grandma during the week… in that time we had an absolute blast… many evenings were spent putting the world straight… its surprising just how many opinions we shared actually.
Unfortunately, what we didn’t share was just how ill she was.
I’m sure you can see where this is going
The first I knew of how bad she really was, was being woken at 4:30am by her struggling to talk to a 999 emergency operator at the end of September. Paramedics arrived and rushed her into hospital, and to be fair, she was making good progress and was due to be coming home, unfortunately her dicky ticker (thats bad heart for anyone not from England
) got the better of her a few days after her 84th birthday.
Having spent so much time with her and having seen her pretty much every day since the beginning of April, to say I’m gutted is an understatement.
Couple this with the fact that I was trying to get my car through it’s MOT (lots of underbody welding and other crap jobs) and since Grandma’s been gone, I’ve been having to move my weekday stuff to Mum and Dads, and well… spare time and motivation have been in very short supply.
But, I’m getting back on track… its going to take a while, but one thing is certain, she wouldn’t want me moping around, so I better get my arse in gear otherwise she’ll probably haunt me.
Its unlikely they’ll see this, but I’d just like to say a big thanks to all the staff on Ward 33 at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester who looked after her and made her as comfortable as possible during the last two weeks of her life.
