Sackboy Pattern

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Seems I get quite a lot of hits from people looking for a sackboy knitting pattern, so to make your life easy… the pattern I use is by Alan Dart, and was published in Simply Knitting and The Sun On-line here.

It’s a PDF, so simply download it, print it out and get busy knitting :-)

ShroudBNC Netgamers Script Moved

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

In my continued efforts to improve the information I provide about the projects I publish, I have moved the information about the ShroudBNC Netgamers script to my wiki.

I’m planning on moving more content to the wiki over the next few weeks, mainly because I find it easier to manage the content than I do when it’s published with WordPress.

Advanced Custom Field Widget Moved

Friday, July 24th, 2009

With the release of version 0.8 of the Advanced Custom Field Widget, I’ve elected to move the information page for it to a new wiki, setup to provide more detailed information for ACFW and some of my other projects.

The wiki is located at http://athena.outer-reaches.com/wiki/ and is accessible through the ‘Wiki’ option in the menu at the top of each page.

Scraped by 208.50.101.153

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

This is a bit of a long shot… if you are a regular visitor with your own blog… do you have any information about this IP address (208.50.101.153)?

The reason I’m asking is because it’s linked to a company called Global Crossing, and today at around 11am server time, this address and at least one other connected to Global Crossing scraped my site… absolutely every link was followed.

So… if you know anything about this IP address and they’ve visited you’re site, I’d love to know about it. And of course, if you are anything to do with Global Crossing… why in the hell have you scraped my site? Or, if you are the person who scraped it, why? I shall be googling for my own content, and if I find it reproduced anywhere without my permission, I’ll be coming down on you with the full force of the copyright laws available to me… given these IPs reside stateside, the laws are pretty dam good. You have been warned!

Update:- Well, well…. another scrape… at the moment it’s only partial, this time from 78.159.112.96 a company called netdirekt (German), and who are they partnered with… Global Crossing!

Knitted Hat for Sackboy

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

Well, here’s something I never thought would happen… a knitting pattern… on my blog… and whats more, it’s all my own work :-D

I actually only started knitting earlier this year, so at the most, 2 months ago… the reason… Sackboy. I found a knitting pattern by Alan Dart to make your own Sackboy, so after demanding my mum teach me how to knit, I got busy and knitted a Sackboy, who now lives with Spirit. But he was getting cold at night so she demanded I knit him some winter warmers.

Server Move Completed

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Wow… what a nightmare that was. It’s now 9:30am Sunday morning… I’ve been going at this server move literally all night. I’ve not had any problems with the new hosts (more details to follow), but i’ve had an absolute mare with DNS resolution. One second it was there… then it wasn’t… ARGH!!! And I still have work to do for work work :-( No Sacboy for me I fear.

Anyhow… as I say, more details will follow. The guys at the new hosts have been awesome… around 7am ths morning I got my second IP address. Not bad considering it was only 7:30pm last night when the server first sprang into life.

Right, time for a coffee I think. And a somewhat more leisurely completion of the upgrade task :-)

Site Outage

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

As I’ve already mentioned, I’m looking at migrating our dedicated server. Due to my current hosts being unwilling/unable (delete as you see fit) to provide me with a satisfactory upgrade path, I’m going to try a different provider. This does have the advantage that I should be able to setup the new server and then simply switch DNS around, so there shouldn’t me a major outage, but you may encounter minor problems with incorrect DNS records being cached.

I’ll post again once the jobs done.

Mail Problems

Friday, February 13th, 2009

If anyone who is a regular visitor to my little corner of the web has sent me a mail in the last week or so could resend the mail, I’d appreciate it. For some reason the mail server had gone on holiday, and I just cleared the mail queue thinking it was all spam that wasn’t getting forwarded/returned.

Thanks

Athena

Server Maintenance

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Just to let anyone who visits regularly know, I’m planning a server software upgrade that will hopefully take place within the next few days, so the site is going to be down for a while (assuming it goes down in the morning, it could be back online around 6-7pm that evening).

Site Tweakage

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

Yet more LittleBigPlanet inspired site tweakage… well, perhaps inspired is the wrong word… yet more site tweakage caused by my LittleBigPlanet tutorials pages is a more accurate if slightly longer way of putting things.

The child pages menu that I added has been adjusted to add a widget styled section to the main content section. It works OK in IE 7 and Firefox 3, but if it causes hassles for other browsers, I’d like to know. To check it out, just go to the LittleBigPlanet Tutorials page.

Bad Behavior has blocked 1161 access attempts in the last 7 days.
