For anyone browsing with IE 8, the problem with the left sidebar should now be fixed. This is the first time I’ve used IE 8′s developer tools and I have to say, they made fixing the problem a piece of cake. I have Firefox with a bunch of dev tools installed, but trying to fix CSS problems can be a bind… with IE it was dead easy, turn off the items with a check box to see which one broke the page… one item, turned out to be a fix for a problem with earlier versions of IE. Anyhow, it’s fixed and the site now looks how it should in IE 8.

Just to let anyone who visits regularly know, I’m planning a server software upgrade that will hopefully take place within the next few days, so the site is going to be down for a while (assuming it goes down in the morning, it could be back online around 6-7pm that evening).

I’ve been putting it off and putting it off for too long, but last night I got locked out of the server control panel while preparing to upgrade WordPress. Why did I get locked out? Because according to the server I’d entered the admin password wrong… erm… no I hadn’t. So I cleared the lock, only to find it back in-place within about 15 minutes… so some scum sucking mutant h4x0r is trying to break into my system… time to get everything up to date me thinks.

Having spoken with my hosts, they’ve suggested that my server is garbage and that upgrading the OS etc. will put too much pressure on…. hardly suprising when I’m on a hosting plan that costs less than 50% of what they’ve offered as an alternative. So, the hunt is on for some other solutions.
