ACFW Version 0.82 Released

Monday, December 21st, 2009

With the release of WordPress 2.9, a fault with the Advanced Custom Field Widget was identified which resulted in blank instances of the widget being displayed. Version 0.82 (available here) has just been released to address the problem.

For more information about the widget, check out my wiki.

Advanced Custom Field Widget Moved

Friday, July 24th, 2009

With the release of version 0.8 of the Advanced Custom Field Widget, I’ve elected to move the information page for it to a new wiki, setup to provide more detailed information for ACFW and some of my other projects.

The wiki is located at http://athena.outer-reaches.com/wiki/ and is accessible through the ‘Wiki’ option in the menu at the top of each page.

ACFW Update

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

For anyone that is using the Advanced Custom Field Widget, I can confirm that it is compatible with version 2.8 of WordPress.

I have a few plans for things I want to include in version 0.6 but I’m a bit tied up with work and one or two other things at the moment. As soon as my current urgent commitments are finished, I plan on knuckling down and getting 0.6 finished off and released.

ACFW Version 0.5 Released

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

Following the report of an issue with the Advanced Custom Field Widget, I’ve released version 0.5.

The problem was that under certain circumstances, the widget failed to display the information linked to a particular page. It was caused by other widgets using the $post variables. Thanks to James Collins for highlighting this after he put the widget below the recent posts widget and found it didn’t display anything.

Get the latest version here or upgrade it automatically using the plugin manager.

ACFW Version 0.4 Released

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Well, what a fiasco that was… my first plugin and I release it unfinished!

Apologies to anyone who has downloaded it and is now using it, but version 0.3 had a couple of issues that I desperately wanted to fix.

ACFW available on Wordpress.org

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

I have finally gotten around to getting my beefed up version of Scott Wallick’s Custom Field Widget published on Wordpress.org.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/advanced-custom-field-widget/.

But I just noticed that I haven’t sorted the translation code out! DOH!!! So, if you download it and expect it to be capable of being localised, I’m afraid it’s not at the moment. I’ll see if I can get it sorted this week.

Advanced Custom Field Widget 0.2 Released

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Who would have thought LittleBigPlanet would have such an impact on my blog. In writing my tutorial section about logic and game control mechanics in LBP, I needed to provide some sidebar content on pages (as opposed to posts) that was common to a group of pages. As a consequence, ACFW has had a couple of tweaks this evening.

Visit the ACFW page for more information (links to the page and to download the latest version are in the sidebar).

WordPress Upgrade To 2.7-RC1 – Word of warning

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Well… what a busy week this is… another blog upgrade… unfortunately, this one didn’t go so smoothly.

After a busy weekend upgrading the theme and plugins on the site, I figured I’d try and stay on top of the upgrades, so now 2.7 is at release candidate 1, I figured I’d take the plunge. My confidence was boosted by the fact that the Simplicity theme by Zit Seng supports 2.7, he’d already upgraded and the quick test upgrade I did on my working copy on my laptop went swimmingly.

But the live one… I forgot to deactivate the plugins!!! *ARGH!!!!*

The site itself worked sweet, but the admin area was completely knackered. Thankfully I had a backup of the database (give or take a couple of days of stats) and the working 2.6.5 site (complete with plugins etc). One quick restore followed by a full deactivation of the plugins later, and the upgrade went great.

So, I’m sat here typing away on the great new 2.7 admin system and I have to say… I LIKE IT… I like it alot. But for now, that’s all I’m going to say about the latest version.
